QUALITY CUPRONICKEL C71500 AND C70600 NOW PRODUCED DOMESTICALLY BY BRUSH WELLMAN INC.
Mayfield Heights, OH – March 11, 2010—Brush Wellman Inc. announces production of cupronickel C71500 and C70600 in rod and round forms as well as finished machined parts per customer drawings.
Alloy C71500 is a moderate to high strength, copper nickel alloy designed to be used where excellent sea water erosion and corrosion properties as well as resistance to biofouling are needed.
Alloy C70600 is a moderate strength, copper nickel alloy designed to be used where good sea water erosion and corrosion properties as well as resistance to biofouling are needed.
Typical applications for both alloys include pump housings, valve bodies, flanges, fastener hardware and fittings for the power generation, maritime (especially commercial and military ship building and repair), pulp & paper, desalination and petrochemical industries. These alloys are also used by 0ffshore facilities doing drilling and production in the oil & gas industry. Important applications are sea water transport systems, such as for fire protection equipment, or splash zone cladding on offshore drilling platforms and drilling ships, including through hull fittings.
While these materials are well-known and widely used by the industries cited, responding to customer requests for a domestic resource for quality cupronickel, Brush recently began production.
