BRUSH WELLMAN INC. ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS WITHIN ALLOY PRODUCTS’ BULK ORGANIZATION
Mayfield Heights, OH – March 9, 2010— Brush Wellman Inc. recently announced three new appointments within the Alloy Products group.
William D. Nielsen has been promoted to Product Marketing Director - Bulk Products. In his new role Nielsen will lead Alloy’s Bulk Marketing organization in market research, product requirements, and coordinating the development, marketing and sales of all Bulk Products globally.
Nielsen earned his Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He joined Brush in 1996 as General Manager of BEB (Brush Engineered Bronze) - now known as Brush Wellman’s Lorain facility. Nielsen moved into the Marketing Department in 1998 and to his most recent position as Marketing Director - Industrial Components in April 2006. In this position, Bill developed and directed the marketing business strategy for Alloy products in the Aerospace, Defense and Oil & Gas markets.
Thomas Hazen has been promoted to Global Market Manager Plastics Tooling. In this position, he will conduct market, customer and competitive research, detail product requirements, and coordinate the worldwide development, marketing and sales of Plastic Tooling Products, specifically MoldMAX®.
Hazen joined Brush in 1999 after working in the tooling industry with Bohler Uddeholm and Finkl. Most recently Hazen served as Manager, Sales & Marketing – North American Tooling, responsible for the optimization of Brush’s North American plastics business. He is a graduate of Davenport University with a B.B.A. in Sales and Marketing.
Robert D. Bertin has accepted an enhanced role with Brush’s Alloy Products as Market Manager Global Aerospace. This new challenge will be in addition to his current role as Western District Manager.
Bertin’s new responsibilities will focus on the European Aerospace supply chain, as well as supporting distributor relationships in the UK and Brush offices in Japan and Korea. He will also concentrate on aerospace specifications of ToughMet®, Brush’s copper nickel tin alloy used extensively for bushings and bearings in the aerospace industry. Bertin earned his BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his MBA from the University of Phoenix.
