ToughMet's Combination of
Strength + Lubricity Means Longer Bearing
Life and More Control over Downtime.
Put ToughMet®
to work for you.
Having more than
twice the PV limit of most conventional bearing
materials,ToughMet proves superior to steel, composites,
bronzes and babbitted bearings in equipment such
as heavily loaded journal bearings, petroleum mud
motor rotors and stators, heavy equipment transmission
thrust washers, and chemical processing valves.
Relying on ToughMet's
lubricity and durability, numerous OEMs have reduced
warranty claims, enhanced product reliability and
extended, or in some cases, even eliminated maintenance cycles.
ToughMet anti-galling
alloys are lead and beryllium free, exhibiting excellent
corrosion and stress corrosion cracking resistance
in sea water, chlorides and sulfides. When combined
with the patented EquaCastTM process, Brush Wellman's
heat treatment process creates a fine homogeneous
microstructure. This produces ultra-microscopic
strengthening which is key to the advanced bearing
technology. The low coefficient of friction also
gives rise to ToughMet's excellent machinability,
which is at least 3 times that of conventional tool
steels.
Put ToughMet to
work for you and experience the difference a 900-lb.
